When learning anything,a sport, an academic subject or an instrument, you will always find that people who are good at it, have a personal tutor.

For Example, all sports professionals and teams have coaches, managers and personal trainers. the reason is because when we learn, we need guidance through the learning process and someone who can be flexible and get into our mindset, when explaining their subject.

When learning the Piano, different students need a different approach when teaching them, tailoring the lessons and explanation to their strengths and weaknesses, experience, age, history and charactor.

For example, one student may grasp the putting ‘hands together’ problem quicker than someone else. One student may respond well to recognising shapes on the piano, whereas another may relate to the theory more easily. When explaining rhythms and how to make a mathematical problems sound natural and easy, i will break down rhythmic phrases and common patterns until they normalise and it clicks with the student. Sometimes its worth sticking with one issue for as long as it takes and trying to explain it in as many different ways as it takes to solve a problem, that then, will never be a problem again.

Learning with You-Tube videos has its place, but its entirely limiting, as there are no opportunities to ask for another , different way of explaing a proble. The videos are often rushed, with the presenter displaying their skills, more than explaining thier message with the viewer in mind. Also, these videos are frustrating to watch because they can’t cater for everyone, with different abilities, different levels,  different ways and rates of understanding and visualising.

I offer lessons on a One to One basis , where i will work with you directly, explaining and demonstrating patiently, to help you learn and play the piano with as much ease and enjoyment as possible.
